Form 19 — the final settlement
The form that pays out the whole provident fund balance once you have left the job for good. The account closes after it.

Form 31 — an advance while still working
The form for taking part of the PF without leaving the job. The account stays open and keeps earning.

Form 13 — the transfer
The form that moves an old job's PF into the current account. Nothing is withdrawn; it is consolidated.

Form 10C — the EPS withdrawal benefit
The form for taking the pension account (EPS) as a single payment, or for taking a Scheme Certificate instead. It is a different account from the PF.

Form 10D — the monthly pension
The form that starts a monthly pension: for the member, or after a death for the widow or widower, the children and dependent parents.

Form 20 — the PF after a death
The form that pays the member's whole PF to the family after a death. Three claims arise after a death, and this is the first of them.

Form 5IF — the insurance nobody mentions
The EDLI claim: an insurance payout to the family if the member dies in service. The member never paid a premium for it.

The Composite Claim Form — on paper, at the office
One sheet that replaces Forms 19, 10C and 31, for handing in at the office. It is the route for anyone without a smartphone or a connection.

Form 2 — the nomination
The form that records who receives your PF, pension and insurance after your death. It is now done on the portal as an e-Nomination.

The papers for correcting your record
Eleven fields can be corrected at EPFO. Each has a fixed list of acceptable documents, and how many you need turns on whether the change counts as minor or major.
