After you file
A claim moves through these states. What each one means, and what it asks of you.
This is a sample case. The names and numbers are manufactured and belong to no real person.
| What the screen says | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
Under Process |
The office is verifying your claim. | Wait 7 to 10 working days. |
Payment Under Process |
Approved, and the transfer has started. | Check your bank in 2 to 3 working days. |
Settled Amount |
The money has been credited to your account. | Check your bank statement and the SMS. |
Rejected |
Something did not match, or was missing. | Read the reason, correct it, file again. |
Pending at Field Office |
The regional office is waiting on verification. | Contact that office directly. |
Not Available |
No claim was found in the system. | Check the UAN and look again after 24 hours. |
The clock
It should be settled inside 20 days. If it is not, you have the right to raise a grievance at EPFiGMS.
Four ways to check the status
- On the portal: Online Services → Track Claim Status
- The UMANG app: EPFO → Employee Centric Services → Track Claim
- SMS: from your registered number, text 7738299899 — EPFOHO <UAN> ENG
- Missed call: 9966044425 from your registered number. Or toll-free 1800 118 005.
For another language end the SMS with HIN, TAM, BEN, MAR, GUJ, KAN, TEL, MAL or PAN instead of ENG.
If it is rejected
A rejection carries a reason. It will be one of the causes Kosh checks. Read it, correct it, file again. A rejection is not the end of the claim.
The grievance route
First a grievance at EPFiGMS. If that goes unanswered or comes back wrong, then the EPF ombudsman. Kosh drafts the paperwork for both.
